Tracking

Tracking & Data (Minimal Guide)

Basic tracking concepts: conversions, pixels, CAPI, and how to think about lead quality.

Updated January 21, 2026

Tracking is how you measure what works. This guide stays minimal on purpose.

Two conversions to track first

For local/home-service teams, start with:

  • phone calls (if you take calls)
  • lead forms (quote requests)

Track them separately. Calls and forms behave differently.

Pixels and server-side events (simple explanation)

  • A pixel helps attribute actions (browser-based).
  • Server-side events (like CAPI) can improve measurement reliability when configured properly.

If you’re not sure, start with the basics and add server-side events later.

Lead quality matters more than lead count

A simple lead-quality system:

  • A-lead: booked job / scheduled estimate
  • B-lead: qualified but not booked
  • C-lead: wrong area, wrong service, spam

Optimize toward A and B. Cut what produces C.
